"Pensil" get Goa nod...By Syahida Kamarudin

4 Nov – The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) that will be held from 22 November to 2 December 2008 in Goa will be an interesting one for Malaysia as two local films – Prof. Dr. Hatta Azad Khan's "Wayang" and M. Subash's "Pensil" have both been selected for the "Cinema Of The World" section of the 39th edition of the festival.

"We're going to India!""Wayang" and "Pensil" were multi-nominated in the Malaysian Film Festival 2008 (FFM21) last August in which Ruminah Sidek won Best Supporting Actress for "Pensil" and Zul Huzaimy won Best Supporting Actor for the yet unreleased "Wayang".
Genius Parade Sdn Bhd producer Surenthar is ecstatic, saying that all the preparation needed for sending "Pensil" to India has been done. He said: "What's important isn't about winning, but the fact that our film is being recognised by the organiser. In a way, it motivates us to keep on making movies of good quality".The International Film Festival of India is a 10-day event organised by the Indian Directorate of Film Festivals under the Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Since its first run was in 1952, this would be the 39th edition of the festival and the third time it will be held in Goa since 2005. It is also an event recognised by the International Federation of Film Producers Association (FIAPF).
