Salam Sejahtera...
31 Dec – She might not be as prominent as some of the other local actresses around but Kenchana Devi with her gift of humour has a lot to offer. The fit-as-ever mother of three was at the Palace Of The Golden Horses launching of TV3 series "Spa Q" recently, where she told Cinema Online about her part in a new feature called "Jomlah C.I.U.M".Directed and written by rising filmmaker M. Subash ("Pensil"), Kenchana said that the project piqued her interest despite its low budget nature because of her admiration for the director's passion in filmmaking.Known for her comedy roles in TV dramas especially TV3's "Puteri", she finds the role irresistible.
Craving for non-clichéd roles, Kenchana said: "Playing a nun in the film challenged me to do some strong emotional displays. Without make-up, I had to project a calm and nonchalant portrayal. I only have six or seven scenes but I'm simply delighted to work with Subash and Surenthar (producer), especially after having seen their 'Pensil' debut".Highlighting a religious aspect, "Jomlah C.I.U.M" explores the beauty of religions – Islam, Christianity and Buddhism and their similarities in promoting kindness, unity and peace among human beings. Produced by Genius Parade Films, "Jomlah C.I.U.M" is their third picture after "Pensil" and the yet unreleased "Syirik". Shot in Hulu Langat, Semenyih and Kuala Lumpur, the film wrapped recently after shooting for only a couple of days. Aside from Kenchana, it also stars M. Subash and Ustaz Ibrahim.
"Jomlah C.I.U.M" is aiming for local release next year.
